Third in the World!!

ree

Akai Ryuu SKC sent a small squad of 27 athletes to compete at the WKA World Championships in Szczecin, Poland. Even though the squad was outnumbered in comparison to many of the other 26 countries competing they were not to be outdone in performance.

The squad returned with a medal tally of 19 Gold, 14 Silver and 14 Bronze to finish 3rd overall in the medal table. This means the club now has 19 world champions and even more world medalists among its students from the youngest at 6 years old to the oldest at 43.

The support from parents and family members was the loudest in the arena over all 3 days of competing and helped our athletes to achieve the results - So a big thank you to those who were there in support and also those who sent messages of support to the team from back home!!

Another big thank must go out to Sensei Andrew, Callum, Tia, Louise and Luke who have all done some amazing work in preparing our athletes for this championship. The standards have been set and with many more competitions coming up over the next 12 months the hard work starts again at the dojo as we look to build on this success.
